‘New Momentum Ahead’: PM Modi Says India-Netherlands Partnership Set for Big Leap

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that India-Netherlands relations are set to receive a fresh boost as the recently concluded India-European Union (EU) trade pact opens new opportunities for economic and strategic cooperation. During his visit to the Netherlands, PM Modi emphasized the growing partnership between the two nations in sectors such as technology, clean energy, semiconductors and water management.

Arriving in Amsterdam as part of his five-nation diplomatic tour, PM Modi described the visit as an important step in strengthening India’s engagement with Europe. He said the India-EU Free Trade Agreement has significantly enhanced trade and investment linkages, creating new possibilities for collaboration between India and the Netherlands.

During the visit, PM Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten and meet King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. Discussions are expected to focus on key areas including semiconductors, defence, renewable energy, innovation, maritime cooperation and sustainable water management.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has said that India and the Netherlands have expanded their partnership beyond traditional sectors such as agriculture and trade, moving towards advanced technologies, defence cooperation and green energy initiatives. PM Modi is also expected to interact with Dutch business leaders to encourage investments and deepen economic engagement.

The Netherlands leg marks the second stop of PM Modi’s five-nation tour, which includes visits to the UAE, Sweden, Norway and Italy, aimed at strengthening India’s global strategic and economic partnerships.
