Netanyahu Rejects Claims of Trump’s Influence, Reaffirms Israel’s Sovereignty

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has firmly dismissed speculation about the influence he and U.S. President Donald Trump allegedly have over each other's decisions, emphasizing that Israel and the United States are independent nations guided by their own national interests.

Speaking at the JNS Summit in Jerusalem, Netanyahu addressed claims circulating in both countries regarding the nature of his relationship with Trump.

"People in America say that President Trump does whatever I tell him to do. At the same time, there are people in Israel who believe that I do whatever Trump wants," Netanyahu said. "Both claims are false."

The Israeli leader stressed that neither country operates under the direction of the other and highlighted the importance of sovereignty in the bilateral relationship.

"We do not operate at Trump's direction. We are the leaders of a free and proud nation," Netanyahu stated.

His remarks come amid ongoing debate over the close political ties between the two leaders and the strategic partnership between Israel and the United States. Netanyahu reiterated that while cooperation between the allies remains strong, each government ultimately makes decisions based on its own priorities and national interests.
