Tanzid Hasan Century Puts Bangladesh in Command Against Australia

The visitors resumed the day at 96/1 after Australia had been bowled out for 198. Opener Tanzid Hasan played the starring role, producing a composed maiden Test century in only his second Test match. His 101-run knock made him the first Bangladeshi batter to score a Test hundred on Australian soil.

Tanzid built crucial partnerships with Mominul Haque and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto. Mominul contributed 49, while Shanto scored a valuable 84 as Bangladesh steadily moved ahead of Australia. Tanzid was eventually dismissed by Mitchell Starc after making 101 from 197 balls.

Australia briefly fought back with a cluster of wickets, but Bangladesh's lower order prevented the hosts from regaining control. Mushfiqur Rahim made 36, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz remained unbeaten on 32 at stumps, helping Bangladesh finish the day strongly.

Australia's bowlers struggled in the Darwin heat, using eight different bowlers in an effort to break Bangladesh's partnerships. The hosts also missed important chances, including a late opportunity to dismiss Mehidy.
