Iran Sends 14-Point Peace Proposal to US, Trump Expresses Doubts
Iran calls for end to all conflicts within 30 days; Donald Trump says proposal will be reviewed but remains skeptical
Iran has submitted a detailed 14-point proposal to the United States in response to a US-backed peace plan, signaling its willingness to end ongoing conflicts across multiple fronts.
The proposal, reportedly sent through mediation channels, goes beyond a temporary ceasefire and calls for a comprehensive resolution within 30 days. Tehran has rejected Washington’s earlier suggestion of a two-month ceasefire, instead pushing for a faster and broader settlement of disputes.
Iran’s plan includes key demands such as guarantees against future attacks, withdrawal of US forces from the region, and the lifting of naval blockades. It also proposes restructuring regional security and economic frameworks, along with ensuring safe navigation in strategic waterways like the Strait of Hormuz.
The proposal further calls for ending hostilities in multiple regions, including areas like Lebanon, indicating a wider geopolitical approach.
Reacting to the development, Donald Trump said the US would review the proposal but expressed strong reservations. He suggested that Iran has not yet been held fully accountable for its past actions, indicating that acceptance of the proposal may be difficult.
Tensions have also escalated due to recent remarks by Trump, who compared certain US naval actions to “piracy.” Iran strongly condemned the statement, accusing the US of engaging in what it called “legalized maritime piracy” after the seizure of Iranian oil tankers.
With mediation efforts ongoing, the path to a final agreement remains uncertain, as both sides continue to exchange sharp rhetoric alongside diplomatic proposals.
