Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held another phone conversation with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to discuss the escalating crisis in the Middle East and the need for stronger coordination among BRICS nations.
According to Iranian officials, Araghchi briefed Jaishankar on Tehran’s assessment of the situation following what Iran described as attacks by the United States and Israel. The Iranian minister highlighted the implications of the developments on regional and global stability.
During the conversation, Araghchi emphasised that BRICS should play a more significant role in maintaining international stability and promoting cooperation among emerging economies during periods of geopolitical tension. Iran also reiterated its stance that it retains the “legitimate right of self-defence” amid the ongoing tensions in the region.
On its part, India emphasised the importance of dialogue, cooperation and efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region. New Delhi has consistently advocated diplomatic engagement and restraint as tensions continue to rise across the Middle East.
The latest call marks another round of communication between the two leaders as the situation in the region continues to evolve, with several countries closely monitoring developments and their potential impact on global security and energy markets.
