Hezbollah Uses FPV Drone to Target Israeli Merkava Tank in Southern Lebanon

New Delhi: In a significant escalation in battlefield tactics, Hezbollah has, for the first time, reportedly deployed a First-Person View (FPV) drone to strike an Israeli Merkava tank.

The group released footage claiming to show the drone attack targeting the tank at a central square in the town of Taybeh, located in southern Lebanon. The video, circulated through its official channels, appears to capture the drone approaching and striking the armored vehicle.

FPV drones, which allow operators to control them in real time using live video feeds, have increasingly been used in modern conflicts due to their precision and relatively low cost. Their deployment marks a tactical shift, raising concerns about evolving asymmetric warfare strategies in the region.

While Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the attack, there has been no immediate confirmation from the Israeli military regarding the extent of damage or casualties.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, with periodic exchanges raising fears of a broader regional escalation. Analysts suggest that the use of FPV drones could signal a new phase in the conflict, where advanced yet accessible technologies are leveraged to challenge conventional military assets.
