CSC Meeting

Bangladesh’s National Security Adviser, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, will travel to New Delhi next week to participate in the 7th NSA-level Colombo Security Conclave (CSC), the interim government in Dhaka announced today. The high-level meeting, scheduled for November 19–20, will be hosted by India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.

The two-day forum will bring together senior security officials from India, Maldives, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh—reflecting the steady expansion of what began as a trilateral maritime dialogue into one of the Indian Ocean region’s most influential multilateral security platforms.

🔹 Key Areas of Discussion

Dr. Rahman will lead a strong delegation from Dhaka. Discussions are expected to focus on:

  • Maritime cooperation
  • Counter-terrorism
  • Cybersecurity
  • Intelligence sharing
  • Regional stability

His participation comes at a time when South Asia is facing increasing strategic challenges, including transnational crime, trafficking networks, and evolving maritime threats.

🔹 Growing Importance of the CSC

The Colombo Security Conclave has become an important mechanism for enhancing regional coordination, with India playing a central role in convening key partners and strengthening collective response frameworks.

This year’s edition is particularly significant, as member countries assess emerging geopolitical shifts and seek to deepen security cooperation across the wider Indian Ocean region.

🔹 Expected Outcome

The meeting in New Delhi is expected to produce a joint statement outlining new areas of collaboration, signaling growing alignment among participating nations on strategic and maritime security priorities.
