Thimphu | November 12, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his two-day visit to Bhutan, marking another milestone in the enduring friendship between the two nations. The visit was highlighted by warm engagements with the Bhutanese Royal Family, including the 5th King, His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the 4th King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, Queen Jetsun Pema, and the Queen Mothers, at the historic Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu.
Prime Minister Modi, along with His Majesty the King of Bhutan, inaugurated the Kalachakra ceremony, a significant spiritual event symbolizing peace, harmony, and universal compassion. The event witnessed wide participation from Buddhist monks and devotees across the Himalayan region.
During his visit, PM Modi also met with Bhutan’s top religious leader, Chief Abbot Trulku Jigme Choeda, and discussed shared spiritual and cultural ties that form the foundation of India-Bhutan relations.
As the visit concluded, Prime Minister Modi departed from Paro Airport for New Delhi, reaffirming India’s commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation with Bhutan across sectors including connectivity, education, energy, and cultural exchange.
The visit underscored the special friendship and mutual trust that have defined India-Bhutan ties for decades.
