ISI-Backed Media Outlets Launch Propaganda Against Indian Medicines in Afghanistan Amid Rising Bilateral Trade

Indian Medicines Afghanistan Propaganda

New Delhi/Kabul:

Amid a significant rise in pharmaceutical trade between India and Afghanistan, ISI-supported media networks have reportedly launched a coordinated propaganda campaign aimed at discrediting Indian medicines in the Afghan market.

According to local observers, the misinformation drive began shortly after Afghanistan announced a ban on the import of medicines from Pakistan. Analysts note that the timing indicates an attempt to create panic, fear, and confusion among Afghan consumers as Indian pharmaceutical products continue to gain strong acceptance in the region.

Officials familiar with the matter say the propaganda effort is designed to undermine India’s growing role in Afghanistan’s healthcare supply chain, where Indian medicines are widely known for their quality, affordability, and reliability. The campaign is also seen as part of a larger pattern of disinformation tactics often deployed to influence public perception.

Afghan stakeholders, however, have become increasingly aware of Pakistan’s role in spreading misleading narratives, and many have publicly dismissed the claims as baseless.

Despite attempts to disrupt the market through misinformation, trade between India and Afghanistan—especially in the pharmaceutical sector—continues to expand, underscoring strong demand for Indian medical products and deepening bilateral economic ties.
