External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow today, marking a significant moment in the ongoing strategic dialogue between India and Russia. The high-level meeting underscored the continued commitment of both nations to strengthening bilateral ties across defence, energy, trade, and geopolitical cooperation.

During the meeting, President Putin warmly welcomed Dr. Jaishankar and appreciated India’s consistent engagement with Russia at a time of dynamic global shifts. He reiterated Russia’s commitment to deepening cooperation with India, describing the relationship as one built on “mutual respect, trust, and long-term strategic understanding.”

Dr. Jaishankar conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s greetings to President Putin and reaffirmed India’s intent to further expand its multi-dimensional partnership with Russia. He highlighted that India views Russia as a key partner in areas such as defence production, nuclear energy, space collaboration, and long-term investments aimed at ensuring energy security.

The conversation also focused on enhancing trade volumes, promoting the International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC), expanding connectivity, and boosting cooperation in emerging technologies. The meeting comes ahead of upcoming bilateral engagements and is seen as a step toward resetting momentum in India–Russia relations amid global realignments.
