China Warns US Against Hormuz Blockade, Signals Potential Escalation

China has issued a strong warning to the United States against any attempt to block the Strait of Hormuz, asserting its right to maintain uninterrupted trade and bilateral relations with Iran. The statement comes in response to reports of a US naval move to enforce a blockade in the strategic waterway.

According to Chinese officials, Beijing’s economic and energy partnerships with Iran will continue without external interference. China emphasized that no third country has the authority to disrupt its legitimate trade routes.

Chinese Defence Minister Admiral Dong Jun, in a statement on Monday, reiterated that China has ongoing trade and energy agreements with Iran and expects other nations not to interfere in its internal and external affairs. He made it clear that Chinese vessels will continue to pass through the Strait of Hormuz as usual.

The warning follows actions reportedly initiated under the direction of Donald Trump, raising concerns over a potential confrontation if Chinese ships are obstructed in the region.

The development highlights rising geopolitical tensions and the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz in global trade and energy supply.
