Bahrain Arrests Foreign Nationals for Supporting Iranian Attacks
Authorities say suspects shared videos praising Iran’s missile and drone strikes and spread misinformation online.
Authorities in Bahrain have arrested several foreign nationals for allegedly filming and praising Iran’s recent missile and drone attacks on the Gulf kingdom. The detainees include five Pakistani nationals and one Bangladeshi national, according to local security officials.
The arrests were made by Bahrain’s Cybercrime Directorate after the individuals allegedly recorded and shared videos of the attacks on social media while expressing support for Iran’s actions. Authorities said the suspects also spread misleading or false information about the extent of the damage caused by the strikes, which authorities believe could threaten public safety and stability.
The Bahrain Ministry of Interior stated that publishing such content during a time of national security crisis could incite fear among residents and undermine public order. Officials confirmed that the suspects have been referred to the public prosecution and legal proceedings are underway.
The arrests come amid escalating tensions in the Gulf region following Iranian missile and drone strikes on Bahrain and other neighbouring countries. These attacks are part of the wider regional conflict linked to the 2026 Middle East crisis, during which several Gulf states have reported drone and missile threats.
Bahraini authorities have urged residents and expatriates to rely only on official sources for information and to refrain from sharing unverified content online. The government warned that anyone spreading false news or supporting hostile actions against the country could face strict legal consequences.
Officials also reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to maintaining national security and ensuring that digital platforms are not used to spread propaganda or misinformation during times of regional tension.
