Ajit Doval Delivers Strong Message to Myanmar Over Anti-India Activities Along Border
During BIMSTEC security talks, India's National Security Advisor stresses that Myanmar's territory must not be used for activities targeting India.
India's National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval held a high-level meeting with Myanmar's National Security Advisor, U Tin Aung San, on the sidelines of the fifth BIMSTEC National Security Chiefs' Meeting, where the two sides reviewed bilateral security cooperation and discussed key regional security challenges.
According to official sources, Doval conveyed a firm message that Myanmar's territory should not be allowed to serve as a base for anti-India activities under any circumstances. The discussion focused extensively on the prevailing security situation along the India-Myanmar border.
The meeting comes amid India's growing concerns over cross-border insurgent movements, arms trafficking, and illegal infiltration originating through Myanmar. Both sides also reviewed measures to strengthen border security and enhance military and security cooperation.
India has been using the BIMSTEC National Security Chiefs' platform to deepen collaboration with neighbouring countries on issues including counter-terrorism, narcotics trafficking, cyber security, and effective border management.
India and Myanmar share a 1,643-kilometre border that runs through the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram, making bilateral security coordination a key strategic priority for both countries.
The discussions reaffirmed the importance of close cooperation in addressing shared security challenges and maintaining peace and stability in the region.
