Jammu and Kashmir Sees Hike in Milk Prices, Rates Increased by ₹5 Per Litre
JK Dairy Farmers Association cites rising costs of fodder, medicines, transportation, and inflation as reasons for the increase
Srinagar/Jammu, June 2: Milk prices in Jammu and Kashmir have been increased by ₹5 per litre following a decision by the Jammu and Kashmir Dairy Farmers Association (JKDFA). The revised rates came into effect from June 1, according to the association.
The JKDFA stated that the price hike was necessary due to rising operational costs and inflationary pressures affecting dairy farmers and suppliers across the region.
Announcing the increase on the occasion of World Milk Day, JKDFA President Sandeep Singh Chib said that expenses related to cattle feed, medicines, transportation, and other essential requirements have witnessed a steady rise, making it difficult for dairy farmers to sustain operations at previous rates.
The association emphasized that the revised pricing aims to provide relief to dairy farmers struggling with increasing input costs while ensuring the continued supply of milk in the region.
