Centre Refutes LPG Booking Timeline Changes, Calls Reports Misleading
Government assures unchanged refill rules, urges citizens to avoid panic booking
The Government of India has dismissed circulating claims about changes in LPG refill booking timelines, calling them misleading and inaccurate. Clarifying the situation, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated that no revisions have been made to the existing rules under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana or for other LPG consumers.
Recent media reports and social media posts had suggested that LPG refill booking timelines were extended to 45 days for PMUY beneficiaries, 25 days for non-PMUY single-cylinder connections, and 35 days for double-cylinder connections. The Ministry has firmly denied these claims. According to the official clarification, the current refill booking system remains unchanged—25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas, regardless of the type of connection.
The Government also reassured citizens that there is no shortage of LPG in the country, with sufficient stocks available to meet demand. Emphasizing the importance of responsible communication, authorities have urged people not to believe or spread misinformation.
Citizens have been specifically advised against panic booking, as such behavior could disrupt supply chains unnecessarily. The Centre reiterated its commitment to ensuring smooth and uninterrupted access to LPG for all consumers.
