The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) will convene a National Level Consultative Workshop on “Using Administrative Data for Governance: Harmonizing Departmental Data at State Level” on 24th February 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The initiative highlights the government’s continued push towards strengthening data-driven governance frameworks.

The workshop is part of the preparatory process for the forthcoming National-Level Deliberative Summit, “Data for Development,” scheduled for April 2026. The summit follows the 5th National Conference of Chief Secretaries of States and Union Territories held in December 2025, where improving administrative data systems was identified as a priority reform area.

MoSPI stated that the consultative workshop aims to brief States and UTs on the objectives, scope, and key themes for subsequent State-level internal workshops. The broader objective is to promote responsible harmonisation of departmental data, enabling more effective governance and policy formulation.

Experts from government, international agencies, industry, think tanks, and academia will deliberate on administrative data integration and present successful use cases. The workshop will be attended by officers from Planning and IT Departments of States/UTs, along with officials from Central ministries and other stakeholders. Inputs emerging from State-level consultations will be taken forward to the national summit in April 2026 to identify priority reforms in administrative data governance.
