SRH crush PBKS by 33 runs; Klaasen, Kishan and Cummins dominate in Hyderabad
Punjab Kings pay the price for poor fielding as Sunrisers Hyderabad storm to the top of the IPL 2026 points table.
Sunrisers Hyderabad delivered a dominant all-round display to defeat Punjab Kings by 33 runs in a high-scoring IPL 2026 encounter in Hyderabad. The victory pushed SRH to the top of the standings and strengthened their playoff hopes.
Batting first, Hyderabad piled up 235/4, powered by explosive knocks from Heinrich Klaasen (69) and Ishan Kishan (55). Aggressive starts from Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head ensured Punjab’s bowlers remained under pressure throughout the innings.
In response, Punjab suffered an early collapse and slipped to 23/3 inside four overs. SRH skipper Pat Cummins led brilliantly with the ball and in the field, while Punjab’s dropped catches and sloppy fielding further damaged their chances.
A fighting unbeaten century from Cooper Connolly kept Punjab alive briefly, but the target proved too steep as Hyderabad sealed a convincing win at home.
