West Bengal BJP Government Launches ‘Annapurna Bhandar’ Scheme, ₹3,000 Monthly Aid for Women

Kolkata: The newly formed BJP government in West Bengal, led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, on Wednesday formally launched the ‘Annapurna Bhandar’ scheme, aimed at providing monthly financial assistance to women across the state.
The scheme was officially introduced within one month of the BJP government assuming power in West Bengal, marking one of the party’s key welfare initiatives promised during the election campaign.
Under the scheme, eligible women beneficiaries will receive ₹3,000 per month as financial support. The BJP had included the initiative in its election manifesto, promising direct economic assistance to empower women and improve household financial stability.
Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari inaugurated the scheme during a formal event held at the state secretariat, Nabanna, in Kolkata. Addressing the gathering, the government reiterated its commitment to women’s welfare and economic empowerment through targeted social support programs.
The launch of the ‘Annapurna Bhandar’ scheme is being viewed as one of the BJP government's early flagship measures in West Bengal. Officials stated that further details regarding beneficiary eligibility and implementation procedures will be announced in phases.
