‘Protect Nature, Conserve Water’: CM Yogi Adityanath’s Heartfelt Sawan Letter to Uttar Pradesh Residents
CM Yogi urged people to conserve water, protect nature, and promote harmony during the holy month of Shravan.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has penned a heartfelt letter to the people of the state on the occasion of the holy month of Shravan (Sawan), calling for collective efforts toward water conservation, environmental protection, and social participation.
Sharing the letter on social media platform X, the Chief Minister described Shravan as a sacred period symbolising public welfare, respect for labour, unity, and harmony. He said the monsoon season brings the message of renewal, as nature flourishes and the hard work of farmers begins to bear fruit in the form of lush greenery and prosperity.
Highlighting the spiritual significance of the month, Yogi Adityanath said that in Sanatan tradition, the rejuvenation of nature is closely linked with the worship of Lord Shiva, inspiring people to lead lives rooted in discipline, service, and social harmony.
Referring to the Samudra Manthan episode from Hindu mythology, the Chief Minister said Lord Shiva’s act of consuming the deadly Halahala poison to protect creation represents the highest form of sacrifice. He noted that the tradition of offering water to Lord Shiva is an expression of gratitude, selflessness, and commitment to the welfare of society.
The Chief Minister also described Lord Shiva as the embodiment of harmony with nature. He said the River Ganga flowing through Shiva’s matted locks, the crescent moon on His forehead, the serpent around His neck, Nandi, and His companions all symbolize peaceful coexistence between humans and the natural world.
Yogi further painted a vivid picture of the monsoon season, saying that after the intense summer heat, the gentle showers of Shravan bring the fragrance of wet earth, lush greenery, flowing rivers, and dancing peacocks, reflecting nature’s joy and renewal.
He urged citizens to draw inspiration from these values and work together to preserve natural resources while strengthening social unity during the auspicious month.
