New Delhi: Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Thursday launched a sharp attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of attempting to create a narrative against the Election Commission while ignoring pressing issues in the state.
Singh stated that critical concerns such as unemployment, women’s safety, and the overall law and order situation in West Bengal continue to worsen, but the state government appears more focused on political messaging than governance. He alleged that raising questions over constitutional institutions like the Election Commission is a deliberate attempt to divert public attention from real issues affecting citizens.
Emphasizing the importance of maintaining trust in democratic institutions, Singh said that targeting bodies like the Election Commission for political gains undermines the democratic framework of the country. He further criticized the Trinamool Congress government, claiming that instead of addressing public grievances, it is indulging in narrative-building to shield itself from accountability.
The remarks come amid heightened political tensions in West Bengal, with both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Trinamool Congress intensifying their attacks ahead of upcoming electoral battles. Singh reiterated that the people of the state are aware of the ground realities and will respond accordingly through the democratic process.
