Cockroach Janta Party Founder Dipke Arrives in Delhi; Police Brace for Major Protest
Around 2,000 police personnel deployed in Delhi as CJP supporters gather at Jantar Mantar demanding Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.
New Delhi, June 6: Delhi Police has intensified security arrangements ahead of a planned protest by supporters of the online satirical platform Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar on Saturday. Authorities are expecting heavy mobilisation and have instructed officers to avoid confrontation while maintaining calm through persuasion.
Approximately 2,000 police personnel will be deployed across the New Delhi district, which has been divided into 12 security zones under DCP-rank officers. Security has also been increased outside the residences of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, who recently gained attention through the platform’s viral social media presence, is expected to arrive in Delhi from the United States on Saturday morning. The group has called for a protest demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, citing concerns over controversies including the NEET-UG paper leak and issues related to the CBSE Class 12 OSM system.
Police sources said organisers had not formally sought permission by Friday night, but authorities remain open to granting approval after due formalities. Drone surveillance, videography, and photography will be used to monitor the protest.
The group has urged participants to maintain peace, avoid gathering at the airport, and directly assemble at Parliament Street Police Station or Jantar Mantar. Protest organisers have also encouraged supporters to carry the Tricolour, stay hydrated, and cooperate with police officials.
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court declined an urgent hearing on a petition seeking restrictions on the gathering, allowing preparations for the protest to continue.
