BJP MP Arun Govil Slams Opposition Over Women’s Reservation Bill

Amid the ongoing political debate surrounding the Women’s Reservation Bill, Arun Govil, Member of Parliament from the Bharatiya Janata Party, launched a strong attack on opposition parties, accusing them of obstructing women’s rights.

Speaking to the media, Govil alleged that parties such as the Indian National Congress and the Trinamool Congress, along with others, had conspired to block the effective implementation of the Women’s Reservation Bill. “Congress, TMC, and some other parties have come together in a conspiracy and once again deprived women of their rightful share. However, women will certainly get their due rights,” he stated.

Govil further criticized the opposition for what he described as inconsistent political positions, claiming that such actions undermine the larger goal of women’s empowerment. He emphasized that the ruling party remains committed to ensuring greater representation for women in legislative bodies and that any attempts to delay or dilute the bill would ultimately be rejected by the public.

The Women’s Reservation Bill has been a significant topic in Indian politics, aiming to reserve a fixed percentage of seats in legislative assemblies and Parliament for women. While the bill has seen broad support in principle, disagreements over implementation and political strategy have led to sharp exchanges between the ruling party and opposition leaders.

Govil also warned that parties opposing the bill’s progress may face political consequences, stating that voters are increasingly aware and responsive to issues concerning women’s rights and empowerment.

As the debate intensifies, the bill continues to remain at the center of national political discourse, reflecting both its importance and the challenges in achieving consensus.
