Terror Associate Arrested in Pulwama; Arms and Explosives Recovered
Joint operation by security forces in Rajpora leads to arrest of a key aide linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba
Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir: In a major counter-terror operation, security forces on Saturday apprehended a terror associate in the Pulwama district. The arrested individual has been identified as Mohammad Umar Malik, a resident of Kachipora, who was allegedly working as a logistical supporter for militants.
According to official sources, the operation was carried out following specific intelligence inputs. A joint team comprising Pulwama Police, the Indian Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles, and the 183rd Battalion of the CRPF launched a coordinated search operation in the Rajpora area.
During the search near Cebeenath Road in the Kasbayar locality, security personnel intercepted and arrested Malik. Authorities stated that he had been assisting militants by arranging weapons and other essential supplies.
A search of his possession led to the recovery of a pistol, a magazine, live cartridges, and two hand grenades. The seizure indicates the continued presence of support networks facilitating militant activities in the region.
A case has been registered at Rajpora Police Station under relevant sections of the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Officials confirmed that further investigation and interrogation are ongoing to trace additional links.
The arrest marks another step in ongoing efforts by security forces to dismantle terror infrastructure in South Kashmir.
