PM Modi Pays Tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Death Anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary, remembering him as an exceptional statesman with remarkable vision and a deep commitment to the nation.

Vajpayee, one of the most prominent leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the first BJP leader to serve as Prime Minister of India, was born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior. He passed away in New Delhi on August 16, 2018, at the age of 93.

In a post on X, PM Modi remembered Vajpayee on his ‘Punya Tithi’ and highlighted his lifelong service to the country.

Modi said Vajpayee’s words and efforts had inspired generations of Indians, while his leadership played an important role in strengthening the nation. He also recalled Vajpayee’s emphasis on good governance and public welfare.

“His focus on good governance and public welfare will always continue to guide us,” the Prime Minister said.

Vajpayee served as Prime Minister three times and remained a major figure in Indian politics for several decades. Known for his oratory, statesmanship and consensus-building approach, he left a lasting impact on the country’s political landscape.

His death anniversary is observed every year on August 16, with leaders and citizens paying tribute to his contribution to public life and nation-building.
