PM Modi Inaugurates Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor, Calls It a Game-Changer for Uttarakhand’s Growth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 210-kilometre-long Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor in Dehradun, marking a significant milestone in India’s infrastructure expansion. The project is expected to drastically improve connectivity between the national capital and Uttarakhand, reducing travel time and boosting regional development.

Speaking at a grand समारोह held at Jaswant Singh Army Ground, the Prime Minister emphasized that the corridor will not only enhance mobility but also support tourism, trade, and economic activity in the region. He highlighted that the expressway will benefit pilgrims traveling to Char Dham and strengthen Uttarakhand’s position as a major tourism hub.

PM Modi also underlined the importance of balancing progress, nature, and culture for building a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). He stated that modern infrastructure such as roads, railways, and economic corridors are becoming the “lifelines of the nation,” driving long-term prosperity.

The Prime Minister praised Uttarakhand’s rapid development under what he described as a “double-engine government,” noting the scale of infrastructure investments in the state. He further emphasized that projects like the Delhi–Dehradun corridor will reduce fuel consumption, lower logistics costs, and improve farmers’ access to larger markets.

Additionally, he urged citizens and tourists to maintain cleanliness in the “Devbhoomi,” stressing the importance of preserving the region’s natural and cultural heritage. The corridor is also designed with eco-friendly measures, including elevated stretches to protect wildlife habitats.

The project is being seen as a transformative step toward accelerating Uttarakhand’s growth and enhancing connectivity in northern India.
