Meerut School Bus Assault: Two Arrested for Brutally Attacking Class 10 Student

New Delhi :Meerut police have arrested two accused, Mohit and Harkit Baissya, for allegedly brutally assaulting a Class 10 student, Jatin, inside a school bus. The incident took place on Wednesday on the Meerut-Hapur highway near Hajipur village under the Lohianagar police station limits.

According to police, six youths on two motorcycles intercepted the bus while it was returning from a CBSE Board examination in Meerut. The vehicle was carrying around 30 students from BR International School in Kaili village, who had appeared for their exams at DAV School in Shastri Nagar.

The attackers allegedly blocked the bus, pointed a gun at the driver, and boarded the vehicle. They then assaulted Jatin, reportedly with the intention to kill. Police said the accused attempted to fire a country-made pistol at the teenager, but the bullet missed. When the weapon failed to discharge properly, they allegedly struck him with the butt of the gun, causing serious injuries to his head and back. Other students were reportedly held at gunpoint during the attack.

Complainant Yogesh Tyagi, a resident of Peer Nagar Sudna in Hapur district and the victim’s father, said he was on a call with his son when the attack happened. “I heard him scream for help but could do nothing,” he stated.

An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including attempt to murder, rioting, voluntarily causing hurt, and criminal intimidation, against the two named accused and other unidentified individuals. Police officials said the violence allegedly stemmed from a six-month-old dispute between students over a comment made during a mobile chat, a matter that had earlier been settled at the police station.

The victim is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Superintendent of Police Ayush Vikram Singh confirmed that further investigation is underway to determine the full motive and identify other persons involved.
