Kanpur Constable Arrested for Alleged Rape of Student After Luring Her with Job Promise
Accused allegedly recorded videos and threatened victim after gaining her trust during a train journey
New Delhi | April 15, 2026 A disturbing case has come to light in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur, where a police constable has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a student after befriending her during a train journey.
According to police sources, the accused initiated contact with the student while traveling and gradually gained her trust. He allegedly promised to help her secure a job and even proposed marriage, convincing her to stay in touch.
Officials said that after building a relationship, the constable called the student to meet him on multiple occasions, during which he allegedly assaulted her. It has also been reported that the accused recorded videos of the incidents and threatened to make them public, thereby intimidating the victim.
The survivor, who was preparing for competitive examinations, later approached the authorities and filed a complaint. Acting swiftly, the police registered a case and arrested the accused constable.
Authorities have assured that a thorough investigation is underway and strict action will be taken in accordance with the law.
The incident has once again raised serious concerns over the misuse of authority and the safety of women, particularly in cases where trust is exploited through false promises.
