New Delhi, August 12, 2026: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met in Parliament on Wednesday amid reports circulating on social media about an alleged Chinese incursion into Arunachal Pradesh.
The meeting comes as unverified claims of a “slow” Chinese incursion in the northeastern state have gained traction online. However, government sources have rejected the allegations, stating that there is no ongoing Chinese incursion into Arunachal Pradesh.
According to government sources, the Indian Army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) remain fully alert along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Security forces are maintaining a strong presence, monitoring Chinese activities and taking necessary steps to prevent any possible intrusion.
Unverified Reports From Upper Subansiri
In recent days, there have been some unconfirmed reports of Chinese military activity in the Taksing area of Upper Subansiri district. Some local organisations have also raised allegations of gradual encroachment. The Indian Army, however, has previously rejected similar claims as incorrect and baseless.
India and China have long had differences over the LAC, where the boundary has not been fully demarcated. As a result, patrol teams from both countries occasionally come face-to-face in certain areas.
