India Weather Forecast Today, August 8, 2026: Heavy Rain Expected in Several States
Monsoon remains active across the country, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely in parts of South India and the Northeast.
India is witnessing widespread monsoon activity on Saturday, August 8, with several regions likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of intense spells in parts of southern India, particularly Kerala, coastal Karnataka and south interior Karnataka.
Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over these regions, especially on August 8 and 9. Residents in low-lying and landslide-prone areas have been advised to remain cautious as intense rain could lead to waterlogging, flooding and difficult travel conditions.
Northeast and East India to see rain
Several parts of Northeast and eastern India are also expected to experience active monsoon conditions. Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning may occur in some areas.
Delhi-NCR likely to remain affected
Delhi-NCR is also experiencing monsoon activity. Weather systems over northwestern India, along with the monsoon trough, are influencing weather conditions over the capital and neighbouring areas. Periods of rain and cloudy skies may continue, with temperatures expected to remain relatively moderate due to the rainfall.
Weather alert for commuters
The active monsoon could disrupt road traffic and cause waterlogging in vulnerable areas. People travelling through regions under heavy-rain warnings are advised to check local weather updates and avoid unnecessary movement during intense showers.
With the southwest monsoon continuing to remain active, rainfall is expected across several parts of India today, although the intensity will vary from region to region. The IMD is closely monitoring developing weather systems and issuing region-specific alerts.
