Eid-Ul-Azha Prayers Held Peacefully Across Delhi Amid Tight Security
Delhi Police deploy additional personnel, anti-riot vehicles, and cyber monitoring teams to ensure peaceful Eid celebrations across sensitive areas.
New Delhi, May 28: Eid-Ul-Azha prayers were conducted peacefully across the national capital on Thursday amid heightened security arrangements, with Delhi Police deploying extra personnel, anti-riot vehicles, and quick reaction teams in sensitive pockets to maintain law and order.
Authorities implemented elaborate security measures from the early hours around major mosques, Eidgahs, and identified sensitive locations, particularly in north-east and north Delhi districts. Police personnel were stationed at prayer sites from 5 a.m. onwards to ensure smooth and uninterrupted celebrations.
To curb misinformation and maintain communal harmony, cyber teams continuously monitored social media platforms for inflammatory posts, rumours, or objectionable videos related to the festival.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East) Rahul Alwal stated that nearly 1,100 police personnel, supported by 23 additional companies, were deployed in the district. Multiple picket points, bike patrols, and quick reaction teams were activated to respond swiftly to any emergency situation.
Authorities also coordinated with civic agencies, including the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Delhi Jal Board, and electricity department, to provide water tankers and logistical support at various locations.
Police officials reiterated that animal sacrifice in open spaces and improper disposal of animal waste would not be permitted, warning of strict action against violators.
Ahead of Eid-Ul-Azha, police carried out flag marches in sensitive localities, including Sadar Bazar, Eidgah, Quresh Nagar, Qutub Road, and Bara Hindu Rao, while holding meetings with community leaders and Aman Committees to promote peace and communal harmony.
