Delhi–Dehradun Expressway Inaugurated; Major Boost to Connectivity and Regional Growth

In a significant infrastructure push, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the much-awaited Delhi–Dehradun Expressway today, addressing a large public gathering and highlighting the government’s commitment to improving connectivity and economic development.

The expressway is expected to drastically reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from nearly 6–7 hours to approximately 2.5 hours. Spanning over 210 km, the project will benefit an estimated 3–4 crore people across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand by improving accessibility, boosting tourism, and facilitating faster movement of goods.

The expressway is designed with modern infrastructure, including wildlife corridors, elevated stretches, and advanced safety features. Toll pricing is expected to remain competitive, ensuring affordability for daily commuters while maintaining high-quality road infrastructure.

Officials noted that the project will significantly enhance connectivity to key religious and tourist destinations such as Haridwar and Rishikesh, promoting economic activity in the region. Improved logistics and reduced fuel consumption are also expected to benefit businesses and transport sectors.

Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister emphasized that such infrastructure developments are central to India’s growth story, ensuring seamless connectivity and improving quality of life for citizens.
