Delhi Police Bust Fake Medicines Racket, Seize Counterfeit Drugs Worth ₹6 Crore

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has busted a major interstate fake medicines syndicate involved in supplying counterfeit life-saving drugs across Delhi-NCR and several northeastern states. During the operation, police seized fake medicines and medical supplies worth nearly ₹6 crore and arrested four accused, including the alleged mastermind of the racket.

The illegal manufacturing and repackaging unit was being operated secretly in Mukherjee Nagar area of North Delhi. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid at a premises in Indra Vikas Colony, where they recovered a huge stock of counterfeit medicines, government-supplied drugs, packaging machinery, and fake labels.

According to investigators, the syndicate illegally sourced medicines meant for government hospitals and public health schemes in Uttar Pradesh. These medicines reportedly carried labels stating “Government Supply – Not for Sale.” After bringing them to Delhi, the gang allegedly removed the original labels and repackaged the medicines with fake commercial branding before selling them in the open market at higher prices.

Police said the racket supplied the medicines to markets in Delhi, West Bengal, Assam, Manipur, and other northeastern states. Investigators have also found evidence of hawala transactions linked to the illegal trade.
