Chhattisgarh Launches Electricity Bill Settlement Scheme 2026, Offers ₹757 Crore Relief to Consumers

The government of Chhattisgarh has introduced the Chief Minister Electricity Bill Settlement Scheme 2026, providing major financial relief to over 2.84 million electricity consumers across the state. The initiative is designed to reduce the burden of pending electricity dues, particularly for low and middle-income households.

Under the scheme, consumers are required to pay only 10% of their outstanding electricity bill at the time of registration. The remaining balance can then be cleared through easy installments, making repayment more manageable and accessible. In a significant relief measure, the scheme also offers benefits such as up to 100% waiver on surcharges, helping consumers settle long-pending bills at reduced costs.

Officials estimate that the total relief extended under the scheme will exceed ₹757 crore, making it one of the largest consumer-focused financial assistance initiatives in the state’s power sector. The move is expected to not only support households but also improve overall revenue recovery for electricity distribution companies.

To ensure ease of access, the registration process has been simplified and made available through the Mor Bijli mobile application as well as designated electricity distribution centers across the state. This dual approach aims to include both digitally connected users and those in remote areas.

With this initiative, the state government seeks to promote financial stability among consumers while encouraging timely bill payments in the future, reinforcing a more sustainable and consumer-friendly power system.
