Car Falls Off Expressway Near Hindon River, Three Critically Injured
Late-night mishap on Eastern Peripheral Expressway after driver reportedly falls asleep; victims narrowly escape drowning as car lands on riverbank
New Delhi : A major road accident occurred late Friday night on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway when a speeding car fell nearly 10 feet off the road near the Hindon River bridge, leaving three people, including a woman, seriously injured.
According to police, the incident took place around 1:30 AM near Whing village. The occupants of the car—Vipin Bhati, Dr. Abhilasha, and Pratyaksh Raj Sharma, residents of Sector 26, Noida—were returning from a trip to Shimla when the accident occurred. Preliminary reports suggest that the driver dozed off, causing the vehicle to lose control and plunge off the bridge.
Fortunately, the car landed on the riverbank instead of falling into the river, averting a potentially fatal outcome. Passersby immediately alerted the police, who rushed to the scene and rescued the injured. All three were taken to a nearby hospital and later referred to a higher medical center due to the severity of their injuries.
The vehicle was completely damaged in the accident. ACP Lipi Nagayach stated that no formal complaint has been filed so far.
Timely intervention by a local resident, Dr. Shahbaz Chaudhary from Suhana village in Niwari area, played a crucial role, as he witnessed the car falling and promptly informed the police, ensuring quick medical assistance for the victims.
