Arunachal CM Denies Chinese Incursion Claims in Taksing, Assures Ground Survey
Pema Khandu says the government will verify reports with the Indian Army and local residents before reaching any conclusion
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has rejected claims of a Chinese incursion into the Taksing sector of Upper Subansiri district, saying that the allegations will be thoroughly verified before any conclusion is reached.
The Chief Minister said the state government would conduct a ground-level survey in the area and speak with both local residents and Indian Army personnel. He stressed that the government would not make any statement without establishing the facts.
Khandu said he had called members of the Nah Welfare Society (NWS) for further information and would personally look into the matter. He also said he would speak with the Indian Army to verify the reports.
The controversy emerged after the NWS alleged that personnel of China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) had entered areas near Yaja and Togo villages in the Taksing Circle, close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC). NWS chairman Keru Chader claimed that Chinese troops had allegedly come very close to local settlements.
However, Khandu expressed confidence in the Indian Army's role in protecting the country's borders. He said the armed forces were effectively carrying out their responsibility along the frontier.
The Chief Minister's cautious approach comes amid the sensitive nature of the India-China border. Rather than relying solely on reports or allegations, the state government plans to establish the facts on the ground before making further comments.
The proposed ground survey and consultations with the Army and local communities are expected to provide greater clarity on what actually happened in the remote Taksing sector.
