LocalCircles survey covering over 91,000 citizens across 244 districts highlights concerns over cleanliness and food safety standards.
A recent survey by LocalCircles has raised concerns about hygiene and food safety standards at air-conditioned restaurants across India. According to the survey, only 32% of respondents rated the cleanliness and food safety in air-conditioned restaurants in their city or locality as “good” or “very good.”
Meanwhile, 42% of respondents described the standards as average, while 9% rated them as poor or very poor. The findings suggest that a significant section of consumers remains dissatisfied with hygiene and food safety practices at restaurants.
The survey received responses from more than 91,000 people across 244 districts in the country. Among the participants, 64% were men and 36% were women.
In terms of location, around 47% of respondents belonged to Tier-1 cities, while 33% were from Tier-2 cities. The remaining 20% came from Tier-3 and Tier-4 cities.
The findings highlight the need for restaurants to maintain stronger hygiene practices, ensure proper food handling and storage, and follow food safety standards consistently. For consumers, the survey also underlines the importance of being cautious about hygiene and food quality while dining out.
