RAW Chief Parag Jain Meets Bangladesh PM’s Defence Adviser in Dhaka
The meeting took place during Jain’s official visit to Bangladesh, where he is leading a four-member Indian delegation at the invitation of the DGFI.
India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) chief Parag Jain held a meeting with Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s Defence Affairs Adviser, Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam, in Dhaka on Monday.
Jain is heading a four-member Indian delegation on an official visit to Bangladesh. The delegation includes Ashwin Mukund Kotnis, Rahul Negi and Shaibal Roy Chowdhury.
The Indian team reached Dhaka on Sunday following an invitation from Bangladesh’s Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI). The visit comes as the two neighbouring countries continue engagement on matters concerning security and defence.
Jain, who also serves as the Secretary of India’s Special Protection Group (SPG), held discussions with Bangladesh’s defence affairs adviser as part of the official engagement.
While details of the discussions have not been made public, the high-level meeting between senior Indian and Bangladeshi security officials assumes significance given the importance of intelligence and security cooperation between the two countries.
The visit also reflects continued diplomatic and institutional-level engagement between New Delhi and Dhaka, particularly on issues linked to regional security and strategic cooperation.
