PM Modi Receives Call from Qatar Amir, Discusses Welfare of Indian Citizens and Regional Peace

New Delhi, June 23, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a telephone call from the Amir of the State of Qatar, H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, during which the two leaders discussed the recent industrial accident in Qatar and broader regional developments in West Asia.
During the conversation, the Qatar Amir expressed his condolences over the loss of Indian lives in the accident at Ras Laffan Industrial City on June 21 and extended his wishes for the speedy recovery of those injured.
Prime Minister Modi thanked the Amir for his condolences and appreciated the prompt medical assistance provided to the injured victims. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety, welfare, and well-being of their citizens and reiterated their solidarity with one another.
The leaders also exchanged views on the situation in West Asia. Prime Minister Modi acknowledged Qatar’s constructive role in ongoing peace efforts and expressed hope that these initiatives would contribute to lasting peace and stability in the region.
