Bolivia Military Plane Crashes Near La Paz, At Least 20 Dead

New Delhi :At least 20 people died when a Bolivian military plane crashed near the capital city, La Paz, on Friday.

The aircraft, a C-130 Hercules of the Bolivian Air Force, was carrying newly printed banknotes for the country’s Central Bank. Reports say the plane skidded off the runway at El Alto International Airport during bad weather and crashed onto a busy road.

The plane hit several vehicles before stopping in a nearby field. Officials said around 15 vehicles were damaged. It is still not clear whether the people who died were inside the plane or in the vehicles on the road.

Many others were injured and taken to hospitals. Police were also seen stopping people from picking up cash that had fallen at the crash site.

Flights at the airport were temporarily stopped, and an investigation is now underway to find out what caused the accident.
