Noida International Airport To Offer Cheaper Air Travel Than Delhi As AERA Approves Lower Passenger Fees

The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) has approved new tariff rates for the upcoming operations at Noida International Airport, bringing major relief for passengers expected to travel from the new airport.

Under the newly approved structure, passengers flying from Noida International Airport will pay significantly lower User Development Fees (UDF) compared to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

According to the guidelines, domestic passengers departing from the airport until March 31, 2027, will pay a fee of ₹490, while international passengers will be charged ₹980. For arriving passengers, the fee has been fixed at ₹210 for domestic travellers and ₹420 for international passengers.

From April 1, 2027, a slight increase in charges has been proposed, under which domestic departure fees may rise to ₹541 and international departure fees to ₹1,083.

Reports have also suggested that airlines including Akasa Air and IndiGo have started revising ticket prices for flights operating from Noida Airport. Akasa Air’s fare from Noida to Bengaluru, which was reportedly above ₹8,000 earlier this week, was later reduced to around ₹6,500. Ticket prices for several other destinations have also reportedly been lowered.

Before the airport’s launch, there were widespread expectations that flights from Jewar would be cheaper than those from Delhi. However, initial fare announcements had disappointed many passengers as prices appeared higher than flights operating from IGI Airport.

For airlines as well, Noida International Airport is emerging as a financially attractive alternative to Delhi due to lower taxes on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF). While the Delhi government imposes 25 percent VAT on ATF, the Uttar Pradesh government has reduced the tax rate for Noida Airport to just 1 percent.

Experts believe this massive difference in fuel taxation could substantially reduce operational costs for airlines and pave the way for more affordable airfares in the future.

The airport is expected to play a major role in improving regional connectivity and easing passenger load on Delhi’s IGI Airport once operations begin.
