Government, Industry Reaffirm Partnership at Post-Budget Textiles Consultation

The post-budget National Industry Consultation on the textiles sector concluded with a strong endorsement of the government’s efforts to introduce a comprehensive and integrated policy package aimed at accelerating growth, competitiveness, and sustainability.

In his summing-up remarks, Shri Rohit Kansal reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to a collaborative and consultative approach, emphasising the need to translate policy intent into tangible and measurable outcomes. He commended industry stakeholders for their proactive engagement and candid feedback, noting that such structured dialogues play a crucial role in shaping responsive and effective policymaking. Kansal also encouraged participants to submit detailed written inputs and specific recommendations to the Ministry to support timely policy finalisation and ensure smooth implementation. The consultation highlighted the importance of continuous government–industry interaction in addressing sectoral challenges, improving ease of doing business, and unlocking new growth opportunities. Participants broadly welcomed the policy direction, recognising its potential to strengthen domestic manufacturing, enhance exports, and drive innovation across the textile value chain.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Smt. Vrunda Manohar Desai, Textile Commissioner, who acknowledged the constructive contributions made by stakeholders. She reaffirmed the Ministry’s focus on time-bound and outcome-oriented execution of announced measures, underlining the shared responsibility of government and industry in achieving sectoral targets. Officials observed that the consultation marks an important step in deepening structured engagement between policymakers and industry leaders. The discussions reflected a collective resolve to position India as a credible, competitive, and sustainable global textile hub, anchored in scale, reliability, and environmental responsibility.
