Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Hiked by ₹195 Across Metro Cities

New Delhi, April 3, 2026: Oil marketing companies have raised the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by ₹195.50 across major metropolitan cities, reflecting volatility in global energy markets due to the ongoing West Asia conflict.

As per Indian Oil Corporation Limited, the revised prices are:

₹2,078.50 in Delhi ₹2,208 in Kolkata ₹2,031 in Mumbai ₹2,246.50 in Chennai

The new rates have come into effect from April 1.

However, domestic LPG prices remain unchanged. A 14.2-kg household cylinder continues to cost ₹913, while PMUY beneficiaries pay ₹613.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated that commercial LPG prices are deregulated and revised monthly based on international benchmarks. These cylinders are mainly used by industries and the hospitality sector and account for less than 10% of total LPG consumption.

The price increase has been driven by a sharp 44% rise in the Saudi Contract Price, from $542 per metric tonne in March to $780 in April. Supply disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have further strained global LPG availability.

Despite global uncertainty, petrol and diesel prices remain stable. In Delhi, petrol is priced at ₹94.77 per litre and diesel at ₹87.67 per litre.

The Ministry noted that oil companies are currently facing under-recoveries of ₹380 per LPG cylinder, with projected cumulative losses reaching ₹40,484 crore by end-May. To protect consumers, oil PSUs and the government absorbed around ₹60,000 crore in the past year.

Officials added that India continues to maintain one of the lowest domestic LPG prices globally compared to neighbouring countries.
