Shreyas Iyer’s Century Powers PBKS to Crucial Win Over LSG

Punjab Kings (PBKS) revived their IPL 2026 playoff hopes with a dominant seven-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Lucknow on Friday. Chasing 197, PBKS reached 200/3 in just 18 overs, thanks to a stunning unbeaten century from captain Shreyas Iyer.

Batting first, LSG posted 196/6 despite missing overseas stars Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram. Josh Inglis led the scoring with a brilliant 72, while Ayush Badoni added a quick 43. For Punjab, Yuzvendra Chahal starred with the ball, taking two important wickets, including Rishabh Pant.

Punjab’s chase got off to a poor start as opener Priyansh Arya departed on the first ball and the team slipped to 22/2. However, Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh turned the match around with a match-winning partnership. Prabhsimran smashed 69, while Iyer anchored the innings with aggressive strokeplay.

The PBKS skipper accelerated brilliantly in the final overs, smashing boundaries and sixes to bring up his maiden IPL century. He remained unbeaten on 101 and finished the chase in style, ending Punjab’s six-match losing streak.

The victory lifted PBKS back into the top four and kept their playoff hopes alive heading into the final stage of the tournament.
