Noida Labour Protest Turns Violent; Yogi Government Announces 21% Interim Wage Hike

Following escalating tensions during a workers’ protest in Noida, the government of Uttar Pradesh has taken a significant step to address labour concerns by announcing an interim wage increase of approximately 21 percent. The protest, which entered its fourth day, turned violent as agitated workers took to the streets, expressing strong dissatisfaction over wage-related issues.

In response to the deteriorating situation, authorities issued a statewide alert to maintain law and order and prevent further unrest. Recognizing the urgency of the matter and the growing anger among workers, the government led by Yogi Adityanath moved swiftly to implement relief measures.

Late Monday night, the state government formally announced the interim wage hike, aiming to pacify protesting workers and restore normalcy. An official order confirming the decision has also been issued, signaling immediate implementation of the revised wage structure.

Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had constituted a high-powered committee to investigate the issue and recommend appropriate measures. Acting on the committee’s recommendations, the government approved the increase in minimum wages, marking a decisive intervention to resolve the crisis.

Officials believe that the move will help ease tensions and address long-standing grievances of the labour force. The administration continues to monitor the situation closely, ensuring that peace is maintained while safeguarding the rights and welfare of workers.
