The suspense over the next Chief Minister of Assam has finally ended. Senior BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma has once again been chosen to lead the state. The decision was taken during the BJP Legislature Party meeting after discussions among senior party leaders.

BJP national president J. P. Nadda officially announced Sarma’s name as the leader of the legislature party, paving the way for his second consecutive term as Assam Chief Minister.

According to party sources, Himanta Biswa Sarma will take oath on May 12 at 11 AM. The swearing-in ceremony is expected to witness the presence of top BJP leaders, NDA allies, and party workers from across the state.

Sarma is regarded as one of the BJP’s strongest leaders in the Northeast and has played a major role in expanding the party’s footprint in the region. During his previous tenure, the Assam government focused on infrastructure projects, welfare initiatives, and strengthening law and order.

Following the announcement, BJP supporters celebrated across Assam, expressing confidence in Sarma’s leadership for another term.
