UPSC Aspirant Allegedly Gang-Raped in Lucknow; Three Accused Named
Victim Was Reportedly Drugged and Assaulted Over Three Days Before Being Sent to Delhi
A woman preparing for the UPSC examination was allegedly gang-raped in Lucknow after being lured off a train by an acquaintance, according to police reports. The incident has sparked outrage after details of the alleged assault emerged.
The victim, a resident of Jaunpur, was reportedly travelling to Delhi when a man known to her allegedly convinced her to get off the train at Charbagh railway station in Lucknow. Police said the accused took her to his room in the Sushant Golf City area, where he allegedly mixed sedatives into her coffee, leaving her unconscious before sexually assaulting her.
According to the complaint, another man allegedly assaulted the woman later the same day. On the following day, a third accused reportedly joined the group, and the woman was allegedly raped repeatedly by all three men over multiple days.
The alleged assault continued until May 18, after which one of the accused reportedly booked a cab to Charbagh railway station and arranged a sleeper-class ticket for the victim on the Suheldev Express to Delhi.
Traumatised and frightened, the woman later informed her family about the incident. Her relatives then contacted the railway helpline seeking assistance. Based on the survivor’s complaint, a case has reportedly been registered in Delhi, and an investigation is underway.
One of the accused, identified as Shivam Yadav, is said to be a resident of Jalalpur in Jaunpur district.
