Haryana Guest Teacher Suspended After Participating in Jantar Mantar Protest Over Paper Leak Issue
Rohtak-based teacher Sulekha Dalal says she will continue fighting for students and youth despite suspension
A female guest teacher from Haryana’s Rohtak district has been suspended by the education department after allegedly participating in a protest organized by the “Cockroach Janata Party” (CJP) at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on June 6.
The suspended teacher, Sulekha Dalal, who serves at a government middle school in Rohtak, claimed that while the department has not officially mentioned the reason for her suspension, the action appears to be linked to her participation in the protest concerning examination paper leaks.
According to reports, Dalal was contacted by phone and asked for an explanation a day after the protest. Soon after, suspension orders were issued against her.
Sulekha Dalal, originally from Mehendipur Dabauda in Bahadurgarh and currently residing in Sector-9, Bahadurgarh, works as a guest teacher at the Government Middle School in Rainkpura, Rohtak. Apart from teaching, she is also active in politics, devotional singing, and creating social media reels.
The suspension order, issued by the Rohtak District Elementary Education Officer (DEEO), directs her to report to the Block Education Officer (BEO) office as her headquarters during the suspension period. She has also been instructed not to leave the designated headquarters without prior permission.
Reacting to the suspension, Dalal said the issue of paper leaks personally affected her son and countless other young people.
“The paper leak issue has impacted my son as well, but this is not just about him. It concerns lakhs of youths and their future. I will continue this fight till the end, no matter what happens,” she said.
The incident has sparked discussion over freedom of expression and participation in public protests by government employees, while also drawing attention to concerns surrounding recurring examination paper leak cases.
