Atal Innovation Mission Showcases ATL Students’ AI Innovations at India AI Impact Summit 2026
Grassroots ingenuity meets national vision as young innovators present real-world AI solutions
The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) under NITI Aayog made a strong impact at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, highlighting how India’s artificial intelligence journey is being shaped both at the grassroots and policy levels. Central to AIM’s presence was the AI Tinkerpreneur Showcase, where 50 student teams from Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) across the country presented AI-driven solutions addressing challenges in healthcare, agriculture, climate resilience, accessibility, education, and public service delivery.
AI Tinkerpreneur, a flagship AIM initiative implemented in collaboration with Intel, is designed to nurture AI skills, creativity, and entrepreneurial thinking among school students. This year’s edition saw participation from over 12,000 student teams nationwide, with the top 50 selected through a rigorous evaluation process to present at the Summit.
A notable highlight was the “AI by HER” segment, where girl innovators from ATLs shared their journeys and showcased solutions aligned with national priorities such as food security, affordable healthcare, and indigenous innovation. Their participation underscored the importance of inclusivity in India’s AI ecosystem.
In a symbolic moment, an ATL student innovator took a pledge alongside the Prime Minister, reflecting youth commitment to responsible AI development. AIM also contributed to policy discussions, with Mission Director Deepak Bagla emphasizing the need for connected innovation ecosystems and inclusive growth.
AIM’s participation at the Summit reinforced the growing synergy between classroom innovation and India’s broader AI ambitions, showcasing how young minds are actively shaping the nation’s technology-driven future.
