Sharib Hashmi, best known for playing JK Talpade in the hit web series The Family Man, has shared an emotional account of his wife Nasreen Hashmi’s long and painful battle with cancer.
In a recent interview, the actor revealed that Nasreen has been fighting oral cancer since 2018 and has already defeated the disease five times. However, the cancer has now returned for the sixth time, and according to Sharib, it has spread throughout her body. Despite the difficult situation, the family remains hopeful as treatment is currently ongoing.
Sharib spoke candidly about how deeply the diagnosis affected him when he first learned about Nasreen’s illness. Over the years, she has undergone five surgeries, which significantly changed her appearance and affected her physically. Yet, the actor emphasized that her courage and determination continue to inspire the entire family.
He said that Nasreen’s cancer is extremely aggressive, which is why it keeps returning, but she continues to fight with incredible strength and refuses to give up.
Nasreen also praised her husband for standing beside her throughout the toughest phases of her treatment. She shared that no matter how busy Sharib was with shooting schedules, he always made sure to be at the hospital with her. From hospital admissions to discharge, he remained by her side constantly, giving her emotional support and confidence.
The couple’s relationship goes back to their teenage years. Sharib revealed that before realizing his true feelings for Nasreen, he used to propose to other girls and then come to her for emotional support after getting rejected. Eventually, he understood that he was actually in love with her.
Sharib and Nasreen got married on December 27, 2003, despite opposition from their families. Their journey together has now spanned nearly three decades. The couple has two children — a son and a daughter.
