Ram Charan Apologises After Mistaking Jasprit Bumrah for a Footballer at ‘Peddi’ Event

Actor Ram Charan found himself at the center of social media buzz after mistakenly identifying Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah as a footballer during a promotional event for his upcoming film Peddi.

The incident took place during the launch of the song Hellallallo in Bhopal, where Ram Charan participated in a rapid-fire session and was asked to describe Indian sports personalities in one line.

When asked about cricket legends, Ram Charan described Sachin Tendulkar as someone with a “long and brilliant career,” called MS Dhoni “cool and calm,” said Rohit Sharma belongs to everyone, and described Virat Kohli as “fire.”

However, when Bumrah’s name came up, Ram Charan paused briefly before saying, “Bumrah ji, I am a huge fan of yours. I love football and you are taking football forward. Love you, sir.” The clip quickly went viral, with social media users trolling the actor over the mix-up.

As criticism mounted online, Ram Charan later issued an apology on X, admitting the mistake. He wrote that he sometimes gets confused with names and clarified that the error happened amid excitement and crowd pressure at the event. The actor also expressed admiration for Bumrah, calling himself a fan and praising the cricketer for making India proud.

So far, Bumrah has not publicly responded to the apology.

Ram Charan’s upcoming film Peddi features him as a multi-talented athlete involved in cricket, wrestling, and running. The film also stars Divyenndu, Shivrajkumar, and Jagapathi Babu, with music composed by Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman.
